Set up Kanal in two minutes
All you need is the email from your IPTV provider with server, username and password (or an M3U link). Kanal does the rest.
In short: open the setup page, paste the provider's email, scan the QR code with Kanal on iPad/iPhone. On Apple TV, Kanal shows a 6-digit code that you type on the same page. Done.
What you need
- Your own account with an IPTV provider. Most common are Xtream Codes credentials (server address, username, password) or an M3U link. Providers usually send both by email.
- Kanal on iPad/iPhone (App Store) or on Apple TV.
Step by step
- Paste your login. Open kanal-app.com/setup on a computer or phone and paste the provider's complete email into the box. Kanal detects server, username and password automatically, M3U links too.
- Scan the QR code (iPad/iPhone). Open Kanal, tap "Scan QR code" and point the camera at the code. The channels load. Or tap "Open on this device" if you opened the page on the iPad itself.
- Type the code (Apple TV). Open Kanal on the Apple TV. It shows a 6-digit code. Type it in step 3 of the setup page or in the iPad app under Menu → "Send to Apple TV". The channels appear on the TV within seconds.
- Watch. Tap a channel or pick it with the remote. Star = favorite. Up/down in the player = next/previous channel.
Apple TV without an iPad
No iPad around? Type the three values directly on the TV ("Oder von Hand" / manually). Tip: with an iPhone nearby, iOS offers its keyboard for the TV text fields automatically.
Several devices
If the Apple TV is signed in with the same Apple account as the iPad, it picks up the login and favorites via iCloud by itself. You only set up one device.
Security
The setup page parses the email only in your browser; nothing is sent to us. For the Apple TV code, the login is encrypted with the code (AES-256), held briefly on a relay server and deleted once the TV has fetched it. We cannot read it.
Frequently asked questions
My provider only sent an M3U link. Does that work?
Yes. Paste the link into the box. Kanal loads the channel list from the M3U file; the program guide works if an XMLTV link is included.
The page doesn't find any login.
Paste the whole email, not just a part. Kanal looks for lines like "Server", "Username", "Password" or an address containing get.php?username=…
The code on the Apple TV expired.
Each code is valid for 10 minutes; the Apple TV then fetches a new one automatically. Just type the code currently shown.
